Special Sprockets

A closed linear guide system with synchronously rotating block link chains, as used in double-end tenoners and saws for laminate production, essentially consists of four main elements: (1) the rolling block link chains with chain plates, the system's traction and support elements, (2) the guide rails (guide tracks), (3) the deflection plates (discs, shields), and (4) the double-row special sprockets, which are part of the tensioning and drive system.

The special sprockets from WELSCH INDUSTRIAL are highly specialized sprockets that are essential for the precision and low-wear operation of the rolling block link chains in double-end tenoners. They are double-row. Their design ensures better load distribution and a more stable, backlash-free engagement with the chain. This is crucial not only for driving the chain but also for guiding it precisely laterally and preventing vibrations or lateral "wandering."

The teeth are shaped as pockets or recesses that are perfectly matched to the shape of the chain pins or block links. Unlike conventional sprockets that simply press against the rollers of a chain, pocket teeth offer a positive engagement. This minimizes backlash (pitch error), ensures very precise pitch (distance between teeth), and guarantees that the chain is driven synchronously and precisely.
